Bertram Anderson Thyme- Thymus pulegioides 'Bertram Anderson'

FROM YELLOW TO GREEN
The leaves from this plant start out either light green or yellow or a mix of the two, turning golden in summer and sometimes tinged with red in winter. Most of the Thymus pulegioides can be used as a culinary herb, but make the taste test first to see if it appeals to you, this one should have a light lemon taste. An absolute eye-catching mound in the garden or rockery. For mass planting, place about 20cm apart.

Bressingham Pink Carpet Thyme - Thymus doerfleri ‘Bressingham’

Stunning creeping carpet Thyme. Fast growing and very dense. This is one of the first Thymes to flower in spring and continues through the season, which makes it a bonus for bees. Forms a gray green mat of slightly wooly leaves.
Likes full sun and a free draining soil. Is ideal to plant around Sages and Oregano who like the same conditions. Ornamental and fragrant but not a good culinary Thyme.

Bressinham Pink $4.00

Caraway Thyme - Thymus herba-barona

UNBELIEVABLE FLAVOUR!!
Nothing like Thyme and everything like caraway. The scent of this Thyme is very strongly caraway and is excellent used in soups or with vegetables. Goes well with garlic. The leaves contain an essential oil that is strongly antiseptic. Low growing creeping Thyme, is great through rockeries and on dry banks. Make sure it is somewhere you can brush it or step on it to release the scent. Will take very light foot traffic.

Cyprus Thyme - Thymus Integer

Gnarled aromatic perennial cushion-like plant. Leaves stalk-less, linear with long white hairs. The flower-head, a small terminal spike of pink tubular flowers, appears between Sept and Dec. This is unlike any of the other Thymes in looks but still rich in thymol oil which is antibacterial and antiseptic. Grows as a ground cover in pine forests up to 1,800 meters above sea level. The whole plant is less than 10cm high. We usually only keep a small stock of this plants, so if you want a quantity, please email first.

Cyprus Thyme $4.00

Doone Valley Thyme - Thymus 'Doone Valley"

Green through Summer & autumn and then displays a variegated stage in the cool of it's spring growth. Delightfully scented of lemon, Doone Valley Thyme makes a nice little mat under taller plants like Grape, Sage, Oregano or Lemon Verbena. Each plant spreads to about 40cm and produces long flower heads full of pink flowers. These flowers should be trimmed off at the end of their bloom otherwise the new growth will climb over the old flowers, adding height to the mound.

Doone Valley $4.00
Thyme Emerald Carpet - Thymus praecox ssp. Arcticus

A favorite, with tiny bright green leaves and a mass of pure white flowers in mid to late summer. The only thing I can guarantee that this plant doesn't like is too much fertiliser!!! I just about killed our big display one with an overdose. Grows at a medium slow but steady rate and forms a tidy mat. Likes free draining soil and not a lot of competition from weeds. Is great as the ground cover in a large pot under a small citrus tree or better still Lemon verbena. To 10cm

Emerald Carpet $4.00
Fulney Red Thyme - Thymus serpyllum 'Fulney Red'

Fulney red thyme is another ground covering creeping thyme. Grows into a very attractive mat. Is covered with a brilliant display of bright magenta flowers in late summer. Stunning in color and similar to Ruby Glow which has a more upright habit. This is what is classed as one of the wild Thymes and is very edible. But, as with most Thymes, have a taste test and see if it suits you. It is beneficial to the digestive system, being an anthelmintic. It is also strongly antiseptic, antispasmodic, and carminative. To 10cm

Fulney Red $4.00
Golden Thyme - Thymus vulgaris 'Aureus'

My new favorite! Being a vulgaris, this is a good medicinal as well as culinary thyme. Three small plants in the display garden turned into three big mounds covering about 10 times their original area, within a year. This is the plant that has people constantly asking what it is. I cropped this plant rather harshly at the beginning of summer to dry and make seasoned salts. Sea salt, golden thyme and garlic flakes which I now use in everything. This thyme has gorgeous golden green leaves and a mass of pale mauve flowers in high summer. I recommend this one often as it is usually a strong plant (doesn't like wet feet) an a good plant for those just starting to acquire a taste for herbs. Perennial. 30cm.

Gold Thyme $4.00
Lavender Thyme

Lavender thyme is a creeping thyme with a delicate lavender scent and a bonus of a bright lavender flower (sounds good but the flower is actually quite pink). Lavender thyme is a very low growing ground cover which grows well around pavers or in a rock garden. Likes the dry, once it is established and quietly spreads to fill in gaps. Is not one of the great culinary thymes, but worth a taste to see if it suits your palate. Grows well in a pot. Perennial. 5cm.

Lavender Thyme $4.00
Lemon Thyme - Thymus citriodorus

Very popular culinary variety. Forms a small upright bush and can be shaped into a miniature tree. Would look wonderful in a model railway setting. The leaves are strongly lemon scented and highly flavored. This herb is wonderful with fish and chicken dishes and well worth using with salads and any raw dish that require a hint of lemon. Popular with chefs. 30cm.

Lemon Thyme $4.00

Lemon Curd Thyme - Thymus serpyllum 'Lemon Curd'

I have planted this around the base of some of my fruit trees. It needed some time to get established and a little weeding to encourage it to form a good mat but the rewards are worth it. I now have a superb culinary thyme that is also suppressing weeds and making a neat base to my trees. This has a smaller leaf the Lemon Thyme but the taste is just as distinctive. Strong lemon flavours that are suited for fish & chicken dishes. To 5cm

Lemon Curd Thyme $4.00

Orange Thyme - Thymus fragantissimus

THYME WITH A HINT OF ORANGE
Fresh gray/green leaves with a fresh citrus scent and flavours, that are not quite lemon but……well certainly citrus. A thyme that needs to be tasted and used. I love the look of this thyme. It forms an upright shrub of about 15cm. Likes dry feet and does well with a little neglect and lack of water. Just make sure it gets established first.

Orange Thyme $4.00
Pink Carpet Thyme - Thymus praecox ssp. arcticus

Looks just like emerald carpet but with pink flowers. Small dark green leaves that form a tight mat and produces small pink flowers during summer. Lovely in a pot or as a weed suppressant around other plants. Tolerates being in the shade but does not like a wet position. Prefers to dry out a little in summer and likes a soil that is not too rich. To 5cm.

Pink Carpet $4.00
Pizza Thyme - Thymus numularis

IN MY OPINION, THE BEST FOR CULINARY USE.
A personal favorite for anything from stews and soups to especially pasta and salads. I love the flavor of this thyme. It has larger leaves then most thymes so there is a lot of flavor in a small amount. Makes a delicious garnish on just about anything savory.

Pizza Thyme $4.00
Pink Ripples Thyme - T. serpyllum 'Pink Ripple'

Pink ripples is a ground hugging creeping thyme that is great for growing in between pavers and smells wonderful when walked on. Have a slight lemon scent and is a very fast grower. Pale green leaves and wonderful pale pink flowers. Perennial. 10cm.

Thyme Silver Queen

BEES WILL LOVE THIS ONE
Grows to 25cm and makes a wonderful addition to the garden. Very gray/silver foliage with a silver line around each leaf. Attractive to bees, butterfly's and birds. Needs a trim before winter to keep it looking neat and tidy or it can become leggy. Lay some of the lower branches down and put a little soil over them to make more plants.

Thyme Silver Q$4.00

Turkey Thyme - Thymus Vulgaris Turkey

GREAT WITH CHICKEN.
Most Thymes grow wild in the Mediterranean area, this one being from Turkey. Fast growing thyme with grey-green narrow leaves. Produces small pink flowers. Goes really well with chicken. As most Thymes, is very useful as an aid to treating flues and colds. Thymol, the oil found in Thyme is active against Salmonella, and is though to aid the expelling of intestinal worms. Perennial. 30cm.

Thyme Turkey $4.00
Wild Thyme - Thymus serpyllum

ONE OF THE ORIGINAL THYMES.
Wild thyme is thought to be one of the original thymes. It is a low-growing, creeping plant with large leaves. great for carpeting or putting in a rock garden. Leaves have a very good thyme flavor and retain their flavor well in cooked food Can be used as an aromatic tea, which is antiseptic and calming on the digestive system. Said to be useful for bronchitis, indigestion, painful menstruation, and hangovers. Does not like wet roots. Perennial. 10cm.

Thyme Wild $4.00
Woolly Thyme - Thymus pseudolanuginosus

UNUSUAL GROUND COVER.
Woolly thyme is a nice creeping ground cover, and tough enough to walk on. The small grey-green leaves have a woolly appearance. The leaves have a mild thyme scent although is not the best thyme for culinary use. Leaves are strongly antiseptic, deodorant and disinfectant. Likes a well drained soil and can be grown in crevices on a rock wall Perennial. 5cm.
